SUMMARY:Beyond the Ban: What Florida's Cellphone Policies Reveal about Student Success
DESCRIPTION:Register for this webinar here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/6693665618694444631Everyone has an opinion about cellphones in schools\, but until now\, there has been limited evidence about how these policies affect student learning and attendance. Using detailed data from large Florida school districts\, David Figlio and his co-author Umut Ozek found that the transition was challenging at first\, with suspensions increasing as schools adjusted to the new rules. By the second year\, however\, test scores improved\, students missed less class\, chronic absenteeism declined\, and student perceptions of school climate improved. The research suggests cellphone restrictions can support stronger outcomes\, but thoughtful\, consistent implementation matters. Join us to hear what the data shows about creating school environments that support student learning\, attendance\, engagement\, and well-being
